A Giclee fine art print refers to a machine-made reproduction using the latest and most sophisticated ink-jet technology. The name comes from the French word GICLEE (pronounced Zhee-Clay) that means "spray". In this printing method, the media (canvas or watercolor paper) is carried by a spinning roller while microscopically small pixels of rich, vibrant archival inks are sprayed on it at a very high speed. This renders an amazingly smooth and consistent image true to the original painting, a superb quality fine art reproduction.

The Giclee is quickly becoming the new standard in the art industry, and is widely embraced for its astonishing quality by major museums, galleries, publishers and artists. A Giclee Print is quite simply the closest replication of an original artwork that is currently possible.

The latest inks offer up to 70 years light-fastness and UV-resistance under museum archival conditions. For even better permanence, all canvas giclee prints are coated with a layer of anti-fading UV protective clear satin glaze.

My giclees are created through a very thorough and attentive process beginning with an extremely high resolution scan of the original painting. This image is printed (or sprayed) on heavy archival paper (Hahnemuhle, 308 gsm, 100% Cotton) or canvas (Breathing Color, Chromata White Archival Canvas, 19 mil) using pigmented inks. I then carefully examine the proof to ensure that it is an accurate reproduction in every way. After any necessary adjustments in color, density or contrast have been made, the final giclee is printed. It has the look and feel of the original painting and will maintain its rich color and detail for many generations. Lastly, but not least of all--after a careful, final inspection, I hand sign and number each image. Each giclee is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
